John Frankland has been sailing in and around the islands for more than 25 years and has a vast amount of experience in navigating the intricate passages of Guernsey, Herm and Sark with the area’s big tidal range and swift flowing tides. It certainly makes for exciting and fulfilling sailing!
A Lecturer in Maritime Studies and Engineering, John is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Practical Cruising Instructor and holds the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate as well as the States of Guernsey Skippers’ and Engineers’ certificates. He is an examiner for the VHF/DSC Radio, Short Range Certificate (SRC) and the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) – including the Inland Waterways endorsement.
In addition to his best selling local pilotage booklets, John has written numerous articles for the Yachting Press and is currently the Channel Islands Correspondent for Yachting Monthly |
